Shirlene Joy Sellers, 82, of Benton, AR, went to her eternal home on September 4, 2023. She was born October 10, 1940 in Beaton, AR, to Curtis and Gertrude King. She attended school at Malvern High School in Malvern, AR. At an early age she married Ben Crites, then divorced and years afterwards married Frank Sellers, and later divorced. Our mother enjoyed her flower beds and maintained them for years until her health forced her to give it up. She loved to sit out on her back deck and watch nature in progress. She was a modest woman who lived within her means and could outsmart the craftiest Cardinal birds. She had a long love affair with fried catfish and ice cream and thought a “Turtle Sundae” was to die for. One of her favorite things to do was browse the internet with her iPad and QVC was her favorite website. She also loved crossword puzzles and coloring. Her family was very important to her and she always willing to help anyone that needed her. Mom was a Fighter. She was our advocate and our “Hero” in so many ways. She battled breast cancer twice and won both rounds. She was a trooper, never giving up on taking care of herself. All of us children inherited her strength and no doubt she shaped our lives in so many ways. Her legacy is she led by example and always put us before herself. We are all so lucky to have had a Mother that never failed us.
Survivors include: One son, Scott Sellers (Kellie) of Sache, TX and 3 daughters: Cindy Walter (Ron) of Benton, Angie Weeks (Jeff) of Malvern and Vicky Anderson of Bryant; 8 grandchildren: Wes McCord, Hunter McCord, Chris Steele, Josh Weeks, Ryan Steele, Linsey Brahler, Maegan Dye and Matthew Walter. She has 15 delightful great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Melvin King of Indiana and sisters, Eva Werner and Iva Tipton both of Oklahoma. A special thank you to Amberwood Healthcare and Rehab for their loving care and support for the past almost 5 years. Thank you to Atkinson Funeral Home for all the arrangements. There will be visitation on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Atkinson Chapel, with A celebration of her life following right after at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel in Malvern, AR. Then she will be laid to rest at Beaton Cemetery in Beaton, AR afterwards. XOXO We Love You Mom: Vicky, Angie, Cindy & Scott. www.atkinsomfuneralhome.net
