Miguel Cruz Sr

Miguel A. Cruz Sr., 70 of Hot Springs Ar. passed away into God's Graces on February 15th 2022 after a difficult battle with diabetes. A fighter Though out life, he will be fondly remembered and forever missed. Miguel is preceded in death by his mother Efgenia Cruz and his sister Zenaida Cruz. He is survived by 5 children Miguel and Jackie Cruz, Senaida Cruz, Cassandra Cruz, Alessia & Edward Worley, and Justin Cruz with a combined 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Including his sisters Nancy and Lewis Sanitago, Maria Cruz, and Laura Lopez. Miguel was born at home in the small town of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on May 12th 1951. When Miguel was 5 months old his mother, Efigina and his grandfather decided to move to the United States in hopes for a better future for the family.They came through New York and life was rough for him. Miguel ended running away as a young adult. He ended up in Texas where he signed up for Job Corp. He was relocated to Hot Springs, Arkansas where he trained in carpentry and also where he met his first wife. They had 2 children. Then Miguel then relocated to Vineland, New Jersey and remarried and had 3 more children. After that marriage ended Miguel ended up back in Arkansas where he faithfully worked for many years for the same company. It is also the place where he built life long friendships and was known and loved by an entire community. He also met the last love of his life there and will be laid to rest with her. Even when Miguel's health took a turn for worst he still had his bright light, sense of humor, and playfulness. Miguel spent the last years of his life under the care of the truly special staff at the Pines Nursing and Rehab. Everyone that has had the honor of knowing Miguel will never forget him and the impact he left on their lives. Services will be March 24, 2022 at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00pm.
