Mary Elizabeth Scholes

Mary Elizabeth Scott Scholes, 79, of Malvern passed away peacefully Saturday, August 27, 2022 in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Born Mary Elizabeth Wyatt on January 19, 1943 in Shreveport, Louisiana, Mary was later adopted at age 3 by Freeman and Bertha Wilson Scott and was raised in Malvern, Arkansas where she would build a life for herself and her family. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, writing poetry, gardening, making jelly, coloring, and attending yard sales. Mary is preceded in death by: Her parents, Freeman and Bertha Wilson Scott; her husband, Robert Scholes; her son, Freeman Scholes; her daughter, Brenda Scholes; and her grandson, Collin Ledford. Mary is survived by two daughters, Lisa Scholes and Bobbie Scholes Ross of Malvern, as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Atkinson Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Malvern, AR.
