MAYBERRY, Glynda Sue (Dink or Dinkie to family and friends), completed her challenging life journey on April 28, 2023. She is survived by her children; Gloria Moore (Randy), Eugene Mayberry, and Terri Long all of the central Arkansas area; eight grandchildren; Cheryl Williams (Cameron), Jessica Beck (Aaron), Farah Moore (Mark Robinson), Jay Moore, Brandon McKinney, Richard Long Jr., Natalie Schoggin (Kyle), and Lindsey Long, ten great grandchildren; three sisters; Rita Gonsalves, Ann Evants (Tommy), and Lois Denson all residents of central Arkansas; a brother, Johnny R. Simpson (Kathie), of Chester, Virginia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, a few close friends and her beloved dog, Little Man.
A lifelong resident of Malvern, Glynda was born on July 28th, 1950 to Roy Crispo Simpson and Aggie Faye Simpson who preceded her in death. Glynda was a Daddy’s girl and loved her father until his death in 1984. She displayed her love and devotion by caring for both her parents as their time on Earth came to an end. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Eugene Mayberry, and two sisters; Patsy Ruth Wilson and Mary Virginia Speer (Jenny).
In her early years, Glynda attended Malvern public schools and North Malvern Assembly of God church where she was carefree and easy going and enjoyed playing outdoors with her siblings, cousins and neighbors. Her life became much more challenging as a preteen due to circumstances beyond her control. She married young and gave birth to three children who she absolutely adored. Glynda was a loyal friend and would do anything to help those close to her; on the other hand, one did not want to be on her bad side.
Glynda loved a picnic, or most any occasion to eat, drink and be merry! She was particularly fond of vanilla ice cream (or most any flavor), a family staple going back at least three generations. Glynda once traveled to Chicago for an appearance on the Jenny Jones Show. She greatly enjoyed her trip there with her sister, Jenny, and talked about the experience for years after appearing on the show. Glynda also loved to dance and for years spent hours dancing the night away at the annual Malvern Brickfest.
Funeral arrangements are being managed by Atkinson Funeral Home of Malvern. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 2nd at 6PM with a memorial service on Wednesday, May 3rd at 2PM at the Atkinson Chapel. Glynda will be laid to rest at Prarie Bayou Cemetary in New DeRoche following the memorial service. The family sincerely appreciates those who provided assistance to Glynda over the last several months including friends, neighbors, medical care staff at CHI Saint Vincent’s Hospital and hospice care provided by the staff at Encore Malvern. Rest in eternal peace Dink! We will miss you!
