Charles Porterfield

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles Porterfield, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Charles departed this life on February 28th, 2025 to be with his Lord and Savior, at the age of 89. One of twelve children, Charles was born to the late Milton and Gracie (Johnson) Porterfield on October 3rd, 1935 in Manning, Arkansas. He was a resident of Malvern, Arkansas for over 50 years where he lived a full and joyful life, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Charles was known for his kindness and genuine cheerfulness. He dedicated his life to his faith and to his family. His remarkable ability to connect with people and his infectious smile brought joy to all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and four sisters. His wife Elouise (Thornton) Porterfield, his son Kelly Porterfield, and his daughter Yuna Porterfield.

He is survived by his children Douglas (Donna) Porterfield of Jackson, FL, Bradley (Rebecca) Porterfield of Alvin, TX, Terry (Lisa) Porterfield of Donaldson, AR, Joshua Porterfield of Somerville, MA, and his sister Jessie Ruth Zuber of Malvern, AR; as well as by his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charles will be missed by his many beloved relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held from 4pm-6pm Sunday March 9th at Atkinson Funeral Home in Malvern, AR. Funeral services will be held Monday March 10th at 11:00 am in the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel in Malvern with Reverend Mark Thornton officiating and Robert Porterfield delivering the eulogy. Pallbearers will be Kevin Whitley, Kyle Whitley, David Johnson, Bobbie Johnson, Ben Porterfield, Tyler Porterfield, and honorary pallbearers Kevin Studebaker and Nick Esposito. Interment will be held at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
